Eastern Virginia AIDS Network (EVAN) formerly know as TACT (Tidewater AIDS Community Taskforce) is a private non-profit corporation whose purpose is to support and maintain the best quality of life for individuals infected and affected by HIV, and to reduce the overall incidence of HIV infection by providing education, information, HIV prevention, and support services to the general public especially those living with HIV/AIDS.
In 1983 when EVAN opened it's doors to the community, the outlook was grim for people diagnosed HIV positive. Our focus in those early days was on case management, respite support for family members and care givers and ultimately helping our clients die with dignity.
