This document outlines the director's objectives for casting and designing As You Like It. It includes casting choices for major roles and describes how the costumes, setting, and lighting will be designed to shape the play's spine and themes. The spine revolves around a privileged woman who goes into the forest in disguise and nurtures the people around her. Key scenes like the lawn before the palace and the forest wedding will feature distinctive designs that enhance the mood and reflect the symbolic nature of the forest. The director's concept is that the play shows how human tendencies can change flexibly within the liberating forest setting.
