I joined the Navy in September of 2002. From there, I went to Basic followed by my technical school (Interior Communications Electrician) and specialty school (Integrated Launch and Recovery Surveillance Television System) near Chicago. After that, I chose to be assigned to the USS Carl Vinson home ported in Bremerton, WA. We spent a year and a half doing several short training missions off the coast of San Diego. Next, we took the ship on a 7 month deployment around the world. During which we stopped in 6 different countries and 7 cities to include Guam, Singapore, Dubai, Bahrain, Rhodes and Lisbon.
