Ultrasound guided treatment can help with knee osteoarthritis. It is important to visualize the needle and scan the knee before injecting medications. The proper injectate choice depends on the stage of osteoarthritis - corticosteroids, hyaluronic acid, platelet-rich plasma, or Botox may be used. Early stage patients may benefit from dry needling or PRP while moderate cases use PRP with hyaluronic acid and advanced or systemic cases use bone marrow concentrate or laser ablation synovectomy. Injections can also target the adductor canal, popliteal plexus or genicular nerves. Proper technique is important for successful treatment.
