As a botanical epidemiologist and ecologist I use a number of methodological components in my research that range from the traditional research plot field-level data to large-scale data analysis. I utilize multivariate statistics, network analysis, geographic information systems (GIS) and simulation modeling to put the story together about why crop diseases occur and then use this information to determine effective control measures. These methods connect me with social sciences, agronomy, and breeding in addition to the other fields of crop protection.
