People have asked me what experiences they should have to be a good product manager. There's no right answer but for me the experiences that have made me a good product manager are not getting an MBA (don't have one) or founding a company (haven't done that). Instead, what's made me a good product manager are:
1) Getting a masters in computer science having taken no math or computer science classes in college.
2) Having to ride 11 miles on a broken hand after getting in a bike crash on the way to work.
3) Living in four foreign countries.
4) Developing a deep love for donuts that allows me to out-eat people twice my size.
