Ergonomics is an applied science that designs workplaces, tools, and tasks to match human physiological and psychological characteristics to reduce risks of musculoskeletal disorders. It aims to fit the job to the person by considering risk factors like workstation design, push-pull forces, and tools to minimize injuries rather than forcing the person to fit the job. Assessment tools can measure risks and ergonomic solutions can intervene to reduce risks through principles of workplace, workbench, and tool redesign.
