For the last five years, I have worked as a Teacher Assistant in a day treatment facility at the Russell Jones Education Center in the Park Hill School District. The district is located on the northwest side of Kansas City, Missouri and has over 10,000 students. The Russell Jones Education Center has 40 students that range in grades K-12 with mental health needs who are exhibiting problematic behaviors. I directly work with the middle school students. The students receive a heavy dose of therapy and are slowly transitioned back to their home schools once strategies have been put in place to help the students deal with their overwhelming feelings.
