A radiation disaster
occurs every 30 years
There is 50% probability that by 2050 another
nuclear catastrophe will take place.
WHERE IT WILL HAPPENS?

What is Rosatom?
A Russian State Nuclear Corporation
(aka Ministry, Agency);
Created by Stalin and Beria with the aim to
produce nuclear weapon;
Now it runs business, writes laws, establishes
state policy on nuclear issues;
Covers all nuclear-related issues: military
(weapon, submarines), civilian (energy, medicine,
science, icebreakers), double-purpose (uranium
mining, uranium enrichment, spent nuclear fuel and
radioactive waste management, R&D).

Rosatom's New Epic Fails
There is no 100% reliable reactor;
There is no long-term solution for
radioactive and nuclear waste problem;
There is no economical feasible nuclear
power plant project;
There is corruption;
There is a construction quality problems;
There is no genuine dialog with Russian (and
international) antinuclear movement.

Rosatom's Concerns
Will Russia use fuel supply as a political tool
(again)?
Will Russia keep feeding Rosatom with
budget money?
Financial liability;

What is new (comparing to VVER-1000)?
Thermal power increase by 20%;
Dimensions of the vessel and core increase;
New fuel elements and fuel assemblies;
New main cooling pumps;
New evaporator;
New core catcher;
New passive hear removal systems;
New containment;
...
Technology of 60th
, but with brand new and
untested equipment.

Radioactive waste:
At Smolensk NPP 3 reactors for about 30 years
have produced 129604,3 tons of radwaste
(446252 200-liters barrels) and 2500 1,5 m3
containers.
