A good test should be valid, reliable, practical, and have a positive effect on teaching and learning. There are three types of validity: content validity measures what is supposed to be measured, construct validity measures an underlying attribute or skill, and face validity means the test appears connected to the skill being tested. Reliability means a test achieves stable results for students with similar ability levels.
