About
When I was 15 years old I'd just gotten a D in math on my midterm report card, the next day my teacher told me I'd never "get it".
The next day I decided I was going to prove her wrong. Now, I'm a PhD applied mathematician working at Duke University as a visiting professor.
I grew up in Salt Lake City Utah where I was always "good" at school but completely uninterested. I'd rather leave school and go ski than be in class on any given winter day. After high school I left my home town and attended UC: Santa Cruz where I graduated with honors in mathematics, doing a senior thesis on modeling native grassland populations by using collected data.
