The Fraternity with Africa project, launched in 2006, aims to provide scholarships for young Africans to pursue higher education and professional training in order to combat the continent's loss of qualified laborers. Participants commit to working in Africa for at least five years post-study to support their country's development. Since its inception, the project has awarded 181 scholarships, engaging students in community service while fostering a sense of fraternity and development across Africa.

The Fraternity with Africa project
was launched in 2006 at Budapest,
during the celebration of the
50th anniversary of the birth of the
Volunteers of the Focolare
Movement.
On that occasion a proposal was
made to start activities to gather
funds for SCHOLARSHIPS that
would go to the professional
specialization of young Africans.

According to the
International Organization
of Migrations, each year
Africa loses 20 thousand
qualified labourers.
It is the greatest form of
impoverishment of the
continent that is
compromising the future of
the new generations and is
blocking the development
of African countries.
Paradoxically, Africa spends 4 billion dollars a year to
employ expert foreigners in order to solve the lack of
qualified personnel.

The Fraternity with Africa project
sustains
scholarships
for university courses
or professional
specialization of young
Africans.

After their studies the
scholars commit
themselves to
remain and work in Africa
for at least 5 years
to put their professional
qualification at the
benefit of their own
country’s development.

Since 2006, 181 scholarships
have been assigned to the main countries of sub-Saha
Africa:

Funding is available from Connecting Classrooms for teacher visits and resources to support international school partnerships, which provide valuable professional development for both UK and African educators.

It is not certain whether it had any relation with the Chalukya dynasty of the south or not. It is worth mentioning that the name of the dynasty of the south was 'Chaluky' while the dynasty of Gujarat has been called 'Chaulukya'. The rulers of this dynasty were the supporters and patrons of Jainism.

1. “The Earth is but one country. We are all waves of the same sea, leaves of the same three, flowers of the same garden” FRATERNITY WITH AFRICA

2. The Fraternity with Africa project was launched in 2006 at Budapest, during the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the birth of the Volunteers of the Focolare Movement. On that occasion a proposal was made to start activities to gather funds for SCHOLARSHIPS that would go to the professional specialization of young Africans.

3. According to the International Organization of Migrations, each year Africa loses 20 thousand qualified labourers. It is the greatest form of impoverishment of the continent that is compromising the future of the new generations and is blocking the development of African countries. Paradoxically, Africa spends 4 billion dollars a year to employ expert foreigners in order to solve the lack of qualified personnel.

4. The Fraternity with Africa project sustains scholarships for university courses or professional specialization of young Africans.

5. After their studies the scholars commit themselves to remain and work in Africa for at least 5 years to put their professional qualification at the benefit of their own country’s development.

12. The main characteristic of the FCA project is RECIPROCITY! All are builders of fraternity! The youth are involved not only study hard but also give their time to volunteer services in their own communities. Many peoples carry out activities to gather funds and to make the project known.

13. Felistas of Kenya, for example, studies pedagogy and does volunteer work in a nursery school. Sebastien of Burundi cooks in a social center during weekends. Guylaine of the Cameroons helps at a center for women in difficulty by teaching them sewing.

14. 79 students concluded their studies Anderson of Tanzania, who now works in a hospital administration, wrote us: I thank you from the depth of my heart for your help. Had I not received your support I really would not have been able to continue my studies. Thank you for your idea of helping in our education. This is the best way to help the development of our continent as well as that of all nations. I ask you to continue this project because through it, we experience God’s love for us. I believe that from this project we receive not only academic formation, but also moral formation. This will form persons who are sensitive to other people’s necessities and are capable of contributing with their resources towards the building of a new humanity.
