The Blue Team developed an interactive driving platform called Plug & Drive to create an intuitive interface that connects the user to all aspects of driving while promoting safety. They conducted research including analyzing existing dashboards, surveys, prototypes testing and interviews. Their solution is a software-based platform with a simplified interface for ease of use, connectivity, and extensibility through apps and updates. It provides navigation, media playback and vehicle information while alerting users to road hazards to improve the driving experience safely.

PROJECT BACKGROUND
PROJECT BACKGROUND A taxonomy of existing dashboard configurations was collected to gain new insights toward the evolution of dashboards in conjunction with evolving technologies.
PROJECT BACKGROUND Each photo is tagged according to the features depicted. Examples of tags would be: ? speedometer ? fuel gauge ? climate control ? check engine The taxonomy was designed to allow photos to be filtered by a given tag. We were then able to abstract the dashboard through consideration of each component individually.

CONCEPTUAL IDEATION When a hierarchy was created, the team brainstormed to produce design concepts that would support the interface and the overall experience of the user.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION To create an interactive interface that intuitively synchronizes the user with all aspects of the driving experience while simultaneously promoting a safe driving environment. PROBLEM HIGHLIGHTS: Unsafe use of media and interior components while driving. Being able to stay connected through all phases of driving experience. Current smart systems in cars are over-complicated.

SOLUTION OVERVIEW and BENEFITS software - based This platform creates a new market for auto manufacturers and software developers. SIMPLICITY The systems layout is designed with ease of use. Visual and interactive clutter have been eliminated CONNECTIVITY System syncs with iPod, iPad, website, and manufacturers database to leave you constantly connected. System is able to wirelessly update the platform on the go from manufacturer. EXTENDABILITY Apps, music, etc., can all be downloaded directly to the system.
