After working for years as a lawyer in some of the finest law firms in New York and Philadelphia, I learned a few things that had not been part of the law school curriculum. I learned that a "first draft" of a document is never really the first draft. I learned that the firm's intramural sports teams were almost never comprised of attorneys. Perhaps most important, I learned that the best lawyer wasn't necessarily the loudest or the most argumentative, or even the most clever; the best lawyer was the one most committed to providing excellent client service.
