1. There are 4 main points : - Part 1 (paragraph 1) general introduction about cosmetic surgery - Part 2 (paragraph 2 & 3). Cosmetic surgery from the initial days and its progress in the 19th century (development process of cosmetic surgery in the past) - Part 3 (paragraph 4& 5). The breakthroughts in cosmetic surgery throughout the year. - Part 4 (paragraph 6). Development of the elective cosmetic surgery and useful use of this invention in daily life nowadays
2. The author uses both facts and opinion to prove for his ideas Facts: + During World War I, advances in facial reconstructive surgery allowed many victims of disfiguring facial injuries to lead more comfortable lives +Records show detailed steps of reconstructive surgery in documents from India dating from around 2,000 BC and the medical techniques perfected there spread to the Middle East and across Europe. Opinions: Unlike reconstructive surgery, elective cosmetic surgery is more about shaping and sculpting the body to achieve certain beauty ideals Statistics & time: - From around 2000 BC - During World War I - More than 11 million elective cosmetic surgeries performed in 2006.
The writer should : -Put some opinions to make the article not so boring because it involves too many facts and lacks the writers emotion - Give different oppose ideas or quotations to make the article more have more argument, not just concentrate on giving facts in general.
3. Advantages: -Cosmetic surgery Enhances Physical Looks -Plastic surgery benefits can be both physical and emotional, both external and internal. -Today, plastic surgery can achieve what years of exercise can't, and brings a different meaning to the phrase " growing old gracefully
Disadvantages: -You can be unhappy with the way that your surgery has turned out after healing - You may expect some results that are impossible due to your underlying structure or your surgeon may not be able to complete the dramatic transformation you're hoping for.
Part 2: VOCABULARY CHECK
GAME RULES -Our class will be divided into 2 groups: A & B - A member of each group has chance to choose a name of a star and answer the question below it INDIVIUALLY - The star will give you 500$, 1000$, or 2000$ if you have a correct answer. - Especially, there are 2 LUCKY STARS, you do not have to answer any question but gain 1500$ or 500$, and have one more chance to choose other star. - Group which has more $ will be the winner!!!
