When people compromise, they are giving up a part of their beliefs to pacify the other person. In politics, compromise only results in loss, and usually on the side of traditional values. When was the last time you heard of a compromise to give up liberal beliefs or policies to pacify conservatives? It doesn't happen. Compromise is a narrow one way dead-end street.
Those who would give up reason for clever slogans deserve neither reason nor clever slogans.
