The Canada Mining Innovation Council is a network of high-level industry, academia and government leaders interested in enhancing the competitiveness of a responsible Canadian mining industry through excellence in research, innovation and commercialization. CMIC does not directly fund research, but acts as a facilitator and catalyst to promote collaboration, facilitate communications, and link the needs of industry with the capabilities of researchers and opportunities for funding. CMIC is seeking to expand Canada's innovation capacity by creating additional research capacity via virtual centres of excellence and inter-institutional and multi-disciplinary collaborative research undertakings.
