How To
Catch A Fly
Ball In
Baseball
I love to play baseball!
Defense is an important part of baseball.
Defense has the positions that get the outs.
Sometimes the batter hits a ball high in
the air called a fly ball or pop up.
On defense it is our job to catch the fly
ball.
If the fly ball looks like it may land at
my position I get ready to catch it!
I always yell I got it! so my
teammates know I am going to catch
it.
If a teammate yells I got it! I move away so
they can catch it and I dont run into them.
While watching the ball, I run to where it
looks like it is going to land.
I position myself so I am
underneath where the ball
will land.
I keep my glove high above my head
and make sure it is open.
I always keep my eye on the ball until I
catch it!
When I am underneath where the ball
will land I move my glove to catch the
ball when it comes down from the air.
When I feel the ball hit the inside of
my glove I close my glove to make
sure the ball does not slip out.
If I dont catch the ball it is okay, I just
make sure I throw the ball in to the
right base because I could still make
an out.
