The elderly carpenter agreed to build one last house for his contractor before retiring. Not realizing it was for himself, the carpenter did shoddy work with poor materials. When presented with the house as a gift, the carpenter regretted not building it to the best of his abilities. Similarly, we build our lives through our daily attitudes and choices, and may later regret not putting in our best effort if we knew our future depended on it. We are encouraged to ask God to guide us in building a strong foundation.
