Professor Christopher Stones has enjoyed a lengthy academic and research career in the United Kingdom and South Africa. Prior to taking up a full Professorship at the University of Johannesburg, Professor Stones had spent the bulk of his academic career at Rhodes University during which time he served as Head of Department for a 12 year period as well as Deputy Dean, and then Dean, of the Social Sciences Faculty. In the late 1980s, Professor Stones was awarded a post-doctoral Fellowship at Durham University (UK).
