I was born in California, came to the East coast when my dad went to medical school at Howard University. I was raised in Hyattsville Maryland. I didn't know I had a country accent until I moved to Philadelphia in 1991 (or so I'm still being told) Anyway went to elementary, junior high and high school with pretty much the same people because Hyattsville just isn't that big.
