I am investigating how the use of social media can promote Independent films and the performing arts in Greece, thereby demonstrating one way to build a Knowledge Economy in the 21st Century. I am also involved with the Open Educational Resources "movement" in education and am designing a research project with performing artists (i.e. a dedicated CoP) in Greece for the Harvard OER course, The Heroic and the Anti-Heroic in Classical Greek Civilization. The purpose of my project is to demonstrate the significant role that instructional design plays in increasing student engagement, and the possible implications this may have for effective implementation of Open University programs.
