I had the privilege of "growing up" professionally in the PC business. This started as far back as 1983 being a sales professional for an IBM PC dealer, to being involving in distributing PC software products for Microsoft in the 1990's and eventually running large IT businesses like Datatec, Siltek and Datanet.
The energy and drive during this period was enormous and often frenetic. The ultimate result is that we all have a say about how and where we use computing power. Most of it is in our pocket. The path to removing power from the centralised mainframes to today was a long and arduous path, but the consumer has ultimately won.
