While my time at the City of Bryan, I have had the privilege to participate in the transformation of our network. In the beginning, simply interconnecting Windows PCs with 3Com hubs and routers utilizing frame relay for the WAN backbone. As our networking needs grew in complexity and capacity, incorporating all manner of devices and applications, we evaluated market leaders at the time, including Enterasys and Nortel, then selected Cisco Systems, based on price, performance and sheer product depth, as our partner of choice going forward with the installation of a fiber backbone.
