I started coaching in Perth back in the 70's with Stirling Rugby Union Club, before an amalgamation and move to Sorrento RFC .
Changes to the competition structure with WA Rugby saw Sorrento join forces with the then Wanneroo Rugby club to become Wanneroo Districts RUFC where I remained for 12 years as a player, junior coach and colts coach.
During the period 1978 to 1992 I coached the state under 16 team then the under 19 and 21 teams , eventually the senior state team in the role as both the senior coach and assistant coach with wins at the Australian National 16 championship and losses to the All Blacks and Wales
