He hails from former East Germany where he left after the country's reunification in 1990 to study law in Hamburg. After nine years of legal study, three law degrees and a book on China鈥檚 bankruptcy law, he started to work as an associate lawyer for Freshfields, a large UK law firm in China only to discover that being a lawyer is the last thing he wanted to do. To the dismay of his mum he left law practice behind and jumped into the ocean - as the Chinese say when someone becomes an entrepreneur and starts his own business.
