Design of an embedded speech centric interface for applications in handheld terminal
1. DESIGN OF AN EMBEDDED SPEECH-CENTRIC INTERFACE
FOR APPLICATIONS IN HANDHELD TERMINAL
ABSTRACT
Nowadays, portable devices (in particular, mobile phones and personal digital
assistants [PDAs]) are part of our daily lives. Furthermore, the potential connectivity of these
types of devices with a wide range of services through wireless communication networks has
triggered the creation of a rich variety of applications. However, the reduced size of portable
devices actually makes it difficult to use many of these available applications because, in fact,
there is very limited unused space where buttons or unfold menus can be located. Voiceenabled or speech interfaces are one effective solution to efficiently manage both, with the
possibility of taking advantage of the inherent potentiality of these devices and their small
size.
EXISTING SYSTEM
In the present system, controlling the home networks is by switching the board which
needs some human effort. But for the disabled person, they need to give more effort for those
things. Thinking about users with disabilities, it is necessary to invest efforts in the research
and development of accessible interfaces, through the perspective of a universal design that
iseasy to use and to learn how to use.
PROPOSED SYSTEM
In the proposed system, we propose Design of an Embedded Speech-Centric Interface
for Applications in Handheld Terminal. By using the speech command the home appliances
2. will be controlled. So for the disabled person, there is no need to move to the place the
control the appliance. By using the speech command itself the appliance will be controlled.
