My research focuses on the production of normativity in environmental law - that is, it focuses on the processes by which individuals (be they States, companies or natural persons) come to view rules as binding. My research demonstrates that the processes involved are similar at both international and national level and that the form in which the rule (e.g. binding law or soft law) is less important than other factors.
Most of my work is focussed on marine issues and at present I am working on a number of Arctic and Marine focussed projects. My primary project focuses on Governance in the Arctic Marine Environment.
