About
I have worked as a student, community, union and electoral organizer primarily in the Midwest. I have published both as a journalist and in academic journals on the impact of culture and identity in organizing efforts. Currently, I hold a Masters in Social Work with an emphasis in organizational and community practice and a Ph.D. in American Studies from Michigan State University. My dissertation titled Insurgent Aztlan: Xicano Resistance Writing defines the nature of resistance literature produced by third world national liberation movements through the lens of Xicano community intellectuals. This is done by defining insurgency and identifying insurgent tropes within Xicano literature
