The heart functions as a pump to send oxygen-rich blood to all parts of the body. Fish have a two-chambered heart that pumps blood to the gills then body, while amphibians have a three-chambered heart and partial double circulatory system. Humans have a four-chambered heart that fully separates into two pumps, contracting with all its force each time to pump over 4,300 gallons of blood per day.
2. The Heart
Function: a pump to send oxygen-
rich blood, which contains oxygen
and nutrients that every cell in
your body need to survive, to all
parts of your body.
3. Fish
Fish have a two-chambered heart that
pumps the blood to the gills and from
there it goes on to the rest of the body.
4. Amphibians
Have a three-chambered heart and a double
circulatory system which is used, but the heart is
not always completely separated into two pumps
5. Human
Each time the heart contracts it does with all its
force.
In skeletal muscles, the principle of gradation is
present.
