Gerlo Beernink has emerged over the past thirty years as a photographer who has been inspired by a variety of topics, always based on what man moves.
His report on the miserable psychiatry on the Greek island of Leros was awarded by the World Press Photo.
In addition to documentary photography around work, psychiatry and archeology, Gerlo has been photographing industrial heritage. His architectural photography has come out of this.
Gerlo is a professor at the European Center of Emerson College Boston, USA.
