Since 1997 I am working at the Institute for Health and Consumer Protection (IHCP, Ispra, Italy), where I am responsible of surface characterization activity in the Nanobiotechnology Laboratory of the Nanobiosciences Unit. My scientific interests regard the characterization of surface chemistry of nanomaterials in contact with biological environments such as protein solutions and cells. In this respect, I am involved in several projects for the use of surface analysis techniques such as X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and Time of Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) to characterize the surface composition of nanomaterials and nanostructures.
