I've been a high school teacher (history, social studies), research associate, lecturer, reader and professor in computing, worked flexibly mixing academic and commercial roles with childcare, and am currently Professor of Design Theory, as well as Head of Department for Media and Communication Design (Visual Design, Moving Image, Interactive Media, Print, Online and Broadcast Journalism, Critical and Cultural Theory). I use Interaction Design as a test bed for exploring (1) ways of combining the best of applied arts, engineering and human-centred design paradigms; (2) relationships between design work and effective supportive resources (i.e., not simple minded design methods and tools)....
