I grew up in a small town in eastern NC. I wanted to be a nurse from the time I was 6. I knew early on I wanted out of the small town. I was a book worm. I went to school at UNC- Greensboro. I received my BSN and began working as a Surgical ICU nurse. WHEW, I was out of my league. I ended up on Pediatrics where I wanted to be all along. I loved it. I moved back to eastern NC 2 hours of north of Lumberton. Worked in the OR for a few months and that was OK if I was in the middle of the surgery but I wanted to go back to Pediatrics. In 1992, I was given the opportunity (though I resisted a bit) to be a Nurse Educator and the first time a student got it I LOVED IT! I taught
