The document introduces the term "filter bubble", which was coined in 2011 by Eli Pariser in his book "The Filter Bubble: What The Internet Is Hiding From You". A filter bubble describes a situation where a website algorithm decides what information to show a user based on their past interactions, presenting them with content it deems most relevant while filtering out other information, rather than exposing them to a more complete set of both relevant and irrelevant content.
