My parents told me this after hearing that I failed my history test in the 7th grade. They told me that to become a great leader, I must be be well-rounded, emphatic, and receptive to new ideas.
Since hearing those words, I've pushed myself to learn--even if the subject matter is new, even if the task is repetitive, and even if the end of the project is years away.
Since hearing those words, I've risen to become a leader in everything I do. I started a high school stock investment fund, co-founded UC Berkeley's first investment banking-focused organization, published 2 economic papers, organized 3 teams of interns, and directed 4 case presentations.
