THEORIES Heather
DYER

Dyer believes that genres are pleasurable and should
transport viewers to a dif ferent world that allows them to
  escape from their daily lives
In my film, it follows the life of Rachel a pregnant teenage
girl. The genre of the film is a teen drama. The genre deals
with complex issues such as teenage pregnancy which
provides entertainment for viewers as many of them dont
experience these issues. Also it encourages them to watch the
film in order to find out what outcome the girl will have.
The dilemma of what path Rachel should take with her
pregnancy provides viewers with excitement on what she will
do next. It gives them a chance to deal with someone elses
troubles that are not their own.
NEALE

Neale believes that genres are simultaneously conservative
  and innovative.
In my film, the genre of teen drama includes what most films
  of that genre do.
For example teenage pregnancy, relationships breaking up,
friendships breaking up and peer pressure.
But in my film it is not static, it of fers a twist at the end,
when The main character Rachel, kills herself. This is not a
common theme in teen dramas as there is normally a happy
ending and a return to some kind of equilibrium, but in my
film this is not present and I tried to come out of the normal
codes and conventions of teen dramas.
TODOROV

Todorovs theory of equilibrium focuses on the dif ferent
stages that a film goes through.
It usually begins with a normal equilibrium, then a
disequilibrium, then by the end of the film there is normally
  a return to equilibrium
Equilibrium Rachel is remembering the good times she
had with her boyfriend and best friends
Disruption Rachel decide to take the next step in her
  relationship with her boyfriend.
Disequilibrium Rachel takes a pregnancy test and finds out
  she is pregnant.
Attempt to repair Considers running away or killing
  herself.
 Return to equilibrium N/A
