In Faulkner's short story "A Rose for Emily", the obvious use of the gothic style is reflected in several ways. This includes Emily refusing to bury her father's body and keeping it for three days after his death, showing her damaged personality and inability to accept his death. It is also seen in the isolation of Emily's dusty house and her self-imposed isolation from the town for long periods. The strongest example of the gothic style is when Emily kills her lover Homer Barron and sleeps beside his skeleton, showing necrophilia. All of these elements demonstrate Faulkner's use of the gothic literary style in the story.

In faulkner's story "A rose for Emily " you can see the obvious use of gothic style. this style focuses on horror , morbid and scary scenses ,for example when Emily's father died and she refused to give his body to the people of the town to be buried and kept it with her for three days surely if someone did that he is suffering and her problem was that she didn't want to stay alone in this world after the death of her father . and she didn't want to believe that he is dead and she acts like he is alive , off course that's reflects how damged her personality is and the effect that her father had left on her because of his refusal to let her get married because he thoughts that his social class is higher than people who came to ask for her hand . So she want him to stay longer with her is like a punishment ,However; she couldn't because the people of the town came to ask for the body . Also we have another reasons to consider this story as a gothic literature with is the bad smell of her house , and the dust too and isolating herself from public for long period of time . after that the most strong reason that show us the use of gothic style is when she killed her lover Homer Baroon and she put him on bed and used to sleep beside his skilliton and this is a term called nicrophilia Finally gothic style is not something new and it was used in europe since long ago in architicture style of life not just in literature all those reaons shows us how he used gothic style in literature .
