DPS is proposing streamlining initiatives at its manufacturing facilities that will result in significant cost savings and increased efficiency. By networking its plants and sharing existing spare parts and machinery instead of always purchasing new ones, DPS estimates it will save $9 million per year. The changes will also reduce waste and environmental impact by making better use of current resources and inventory across locations.

ï‚› Once the DPS plants are
networked, we can easily
share a new type of
inventory – existing plant
parts and machinery.
ï‚› Current processes dictate
ordering new parts and
machinery. We house a
tremendous inventory of
existing parts at each plant
that go unused.
ï‚› We end up paying for
‘storage’ of unused assets.

ï‚› We propose the
consolidation of all excess
inventory from the 28
plants into one central
location.
ï‚› No more delays in
obtaining hard-to-source
parts
ï‚› Bypass vendors
ï‚› Less waste of assets
ï‚› Faster next-day delivery for
less down time

Editor's Notes
consolidate all excessive inventory from 28 plants into one central location. Connecting all of the Inventory mgs so we can communicate I.e. phones emails etc. About needs of hard to get parts or one of a kind parts we can not use but maybe someone else can. They saw the savings in not buying parts we already have. Gets our I nventorues down. Helps others plants out. Bypasses vendors. Only cost is shipping. Next day service. Saving approx. 8 to 10 mill per year. Nailed it. Columbus Ohio , Atomwa Iowa, Sacramento Ca , Vernon CA
