I am a postdoctoral fellow and lecturer at Rutgers University. My research has taken me from the cities of Rotterdam and Minneapolis to the hills of Rwanda and the gated communities of South Africa. Currently, I am based in New York. My research focus has been on urban studies, cultural sociology, and the sociology of emotions. Qualitative methods are my speciality. My postdoctoral research project is on stigma, shame, and the sociology of cultural trauma.
