Tri-iodo-thyronine NORMAL SERUM (TOTAL) : 70-200ng/l Thyroxine NORMAL SERUM (TOTAL) : 5.5-13.5 ug/l Calcium Lowering Hormone NORMAL SERUM (TOTAL) : < 10 pg/mL. 1. Metabolism 2. Body Temperature 3. Growth and Development 4. Brain Development (Infancy) NOT ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL FOR LIFE

BE A DENTIST : DIAGNOSIS Distorted sense of taste
Hypothyroidism Hemostasis ( bleeding) wound healing Susceptible to cardiovascular disease (Consult from the physician) Sensitive to central nervous system depressants and barbiturates (Alchohol, sleeping pills,opiates,diazepam) Exposure to a surgical antiseptic that includes iodine (such as Povidone) can increase the risk of thyroiditis (Betadine Mouthwash should NOT be used)
Hemostasis ( bleeding) Anti-thyroid drugs namely PropylThioUracil (PTU) (Hemorrhage) Susceptibility to infection (Oral Infections) Combination analgesics containing acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) are contraindicated Aspirin Stress or surgery can trigger a thyrotoxic crisis. Epinephrine is contraindicated Fluoride free toothpaste (Fluoride was used as a drug to treat hyperthyroidism because it reduces thyroid activity quite effectively. This is due to the ability of fluoride to mimic the action of thyrotropin (TSH). Excess fluoride correlates with the other thyroid-related issues such as iodine deficiency.) Hyperthyroidism

Discontinue the dental treatment Activate Emergency Team Position Supine with feet elevated A - B - C : Basic Life Support Head Tilt Chin Lift IV 5% Dextrose and Water / Normal Saline Administration of oxygen In Hyperthyroid patients , we can use COLD PACK too.
