About
Grew up in Swellendam, Western Cape, South Africa, went to high school in Genadendal, went to, then, University College of the Western Cape (now UWC) and qualified as Social Worker. Stayed in Bellville South for 27 years, 7 boarding with a family, got "married to a family" - with Hettie Ferguson, had 4 children - James, William, Ilse & Henriette, and moved to Kuils River. Worked at UWC in Sociology Department for 31 years, 27 as lecturer. Left for Johannesburg in 1999 to work at Rand Afrikaans University- merged with Technicon Witwatersrand - in 2005 to become University of Johannesburg.
