MSG Joseph P. Collins, Jr. is a native of South Louisiana and lived there for 20 years. He graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Oral Communications (Broadcasting).
His first career was in Television Broadcasting. MSG Collins worked for a CBS affiliate covering news in North Texas and Southern Oklahoma from August 1986 to August 1990. During his time in television, MSG Collins worked as a general assignments reporter, anchor, videographer, editor, and producer. He was recognized twice for excellence in broadcasting, by United Press International and the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters.
