Born in OKC. Grew up there and in Tulsa. Country club baby, but my parents taught me to embrace principles and values, and required me to work starting at 13. Started drinking/drugging, therapy, at age 13, too. Graduated magna cum laude from Casady School in 1979. Bachelors Club debutante in 1981. Graduated summa cum laude from Pomona College in 1983 and became an entertainment publicist in Hollywood. Got sober in 1985, married in 1986, and moved with my husband to Dallas in 1987. Did regional entertainment publicity until 1989, when I changed careers and became a counselor intern. Had my first child, Elyse, in 1993 and was awarded my LCDC in 1994.
