Bharatamuni is considered the father of Indian theater and wrote the ancient Indian text Natya Shastra between 200 BCE and 200 CE. The Natya Shastra is an encyclopedic treatise on performance arts that was influenced by dance, music, and theatrical traditions. It has 36 chapters containing 6000 verses and is notable for discussing the aesthetic concept of rasa.
