I am currently of Post-doctoral fellow in Andrew J. Roger's lab (Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada). My research interests resolve broadly around eukaryotic evolution.
I am interested in resolving deep phylogenetic relationships among eukaryotes and in reconstructing the biological characteristics of the Last Eukaryotic Common Ancestor.
I also work on microbial evolution and, in particular, the adaptation of protists (such as Blastocystis, Pygsuia, Acanthamoeba, ...) to anaerobic environments. I have a deep interest in studying the role of lateral gene transfers in this adaptation.
