Throughout my career I have specialised in developing primary and secondary school libraries, both as an SLS library advisor, a Lead Practitoner and as a school librarian in 3 very different inner London schools. My main focus has been on reading promotion, information literacy and developing students as independent learners. With the renewed emphasis by Ofsted on literacy, the advent of e-resources and digital technologies, and curriculum developments with an emphasis on personalised and independent learning skills, the role of the school library/Learning Resources Centre is key and at the forefront of the drive to raise levels of achievement.
