Today's Energy Storage Systems (ESSs) in Electric Vehicles (EVs) are dull and uninspiring. In order to cater for more and more aggressive drivers and cope with extreme temperatures, most car makers, even the "famous" Tesla, were simply sticking in more batteries. Ironically, it made EV less competing against the size of "fuel tank"s. This frustration leads me of spending almost 4 years, at the "cost" of a Ph.D., to attempt to fix it.
