2. ARTIST STATEMENT
Mari-Lyn started her career as an Artist at Grant McEwan in Commercial Art, 1974. She took
classes from the community recreational department, and continued to learn from other artists,
mentors, participated in art shows and fundraisers. This helped her to gain recognition as an
artist until she found her voice. Mari-Lyns voice is in clay, sculpture, working on the potters
wheel.
Art to Mari-Lyn means a form of expression and inspiration. Its all about expressing her joy, love,
passion and appreciation.
Mari-Lyns style is to experiment with a variety of mediums. Her favorite is to work with clay, as it
has its own memory, that can be molded into a new memory much like us. Other mediums are
paints, fabric, wire, paper and intuitive imagination.
She has traveled in Western Canada showing her work and now resides in Sedona, AZ to be with her
husband and continues to show, practice and learn new techniques to hone her craft.
Her art represents the beauty that is in each one of us, that surrounds us. Thus she creates inspired
art which is wonderful for gifts for special people and public works of art.
Its Mari-Lyns hope that her art work transcends from heart to heart, just a bit of an Idealist.
