My responsibility is to decouple the UI rendering aspect of the website from the backend. Essentially this means moving the templating from the backend java based setup to the frontend (i.e. the browser).
I designed this new architecture, align with the backend end developers on how the data will be exposed and wrote a mini frontend framework to handle the routing and rendering of the pages.
